What do colors look like to color blind people?
Q. If somebody is color blind are all colors "distorted" or just a few? Are there different degrees of color blindness? I've heard of people that only see shades of grey, no bright colors. But I've heard of others that seem to only have problems with only specific colors. Anybody know about this?

What Paint Color will complement existance white and turquoise color in the bathroom?
Q. The toilet and the bathtub in my bathroom have deep dark turquoise color while surrounding wall has white ceramic tiles.While the floor has light turquoise color. The sink and the cabinet are white. I am looking for an advice on what color I have to paint the wall that does not have white ceramic tile (right now it has ugly wallpaper). A. play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours: I think a color called "certian peach" (# 6625) would be just what you're looking for. It would highlight the turquoise & also coordinate well with the white.

The colors you listed could be found in a patterned pillow, and then pick one color accent to be the third color of the room as a solid pillow to go with it, and carried out here and there throughout the room. Take a look at these patterned pillows to give you a better idea: As a third accent to the golden yellow and hunter green, I'd add a burnt orange or deep red. Then you'd have a tertiary scheme.

What color should I paint my bedroom that will go with bed set?
Q. My sheets striped medium pink and a blue a little darker than sky with a small bit of dark red, and my duvet is a solid, same dark red color. I also have matching red tie shades on my two windows but I have lamps that are hanging from my ceiling over the head of my bed that match the pink and blue in my sheets. I also have cream colored carpet, but that is something that I cant change : / I cant figure out what color would go well with this very different color combination, so please any good suggestions?

A. go with anything neutral... there's so many choices from white... to tan... to browns... check out your local paint store, the'yre always willing to help you too! esp. if you bring in a sample of fabric, or something to help them see what the colors are exactly...

How to pick color for a new home?
Q. We re fixing up a house that (hopefully) by this time next year we will be living in. My significant other has informed me that he is putting on the new roof this weekend and I need to pick out a color, today! The problem is, I m visual person and I just can t picture a new roof on that ugly yellow house (the house will be sided eventually later). I m not sure what color we ll side that house so what would be a good color roof that would go w/ pretty much any color? . He wants one of those metal roofs (not sure if that makes a difference). Any ideas of colors that would go nicely together when we do side it? I don t know anything about these things so I appreciate any help offered. Thanks!

A. I think the metal roofs are brilliant. I live in the mountains where everybody has those. I would go with a charcoal tone for the roof. Then you can use white, black, red and greys for the home and keep it very traditional and classic. It will never go out of style that way.

A. Grey: mostly everything, but I prefer darker purples and blue because light on light is a little weird looking. I find gold also looks really nice. Black: Lime green, light blue, light purple etc. (easter pastels.) Bay: Personally I love navy on bays. Hunter green is nice too. Chestnut: Again navy and hunter green look nice. If the mane is lighter then gold looks cool, if not it looks kinda funny. dark brown: I find they look good in creamy colours and lilac. Dapple Greys: Same as Black except slightly darker. A. You can't with store bought color and I will add it is the worst thing you could put on your hair. Now I under stand money is tight right now all of america is dealing with it. So I would recommend you go to Sally's Beauty Supply there you can buy your 8N color and have it match beautifully. It is also much cheaper than box color. Make sure you buy 20 volume developer. A. what *can't* you use? those colors are pretty neutral, so just about anything will match. Blue & brown and pink & brown are teh hott color combos right now, so go with blue or pink if you want a modern look. Such as: green & brown looks very natural & can also be very stunning: reds & oranges will give you that comfortable coffee shop feel.

I have naturally dirty blond hair and I want to dye it blonder ... my skin is very fair, I guess sort of neutral colors, and whenever I've tried putting my hair goldy, it makes my skin look flushed and I look washed out, too pale colors can also make me look gray. but sometimes ditto for ash colors. A. One of my favorite tools for figuring out color schemes is this website. If you click the create link on the side it will take you to where you can choose a type of color scheme (Analogous, Complementary, ect.) So choose one, and make one of the colors the same as the color of your furniture. Then as you drag the other colors around, the program automatically keeps the colors within the scheme you choose. This could help you figure out other colors that look good with it.

What do color-blind people see in place of colors which look alike to them?
Q. I am green-and-brown color-blind. When people ask me what I see in place of green and brown, I don't know what to tell them. People with normal color vision can't describe the colors they see and I can't describe the colors I see. A. I LOVE your question! Both my brother and father were green - brown color blind. But I have a son that has a variation including red. Until I worried so badly about my little boy being "vision impaired" the question didn't come much to mind! A not-so-honest doctor diagnosed my son as TOTALLY color blind at age THREE. That was a blow to me to say the least. But I took him to a specialist that said he was "too young" to be even tested correctly. He did some tests and DID say he had some problem with "red." I don't think he was ever tested again. WHY? Because I decided that making an "issue" of it was "not fair to him." A. Colored appliances go out of style very quickly. Stainless steel appliances are very nice and classy. I would get those with some bright color coordinated towels dish drainer (if you use one) rugs curtains pictures If your table is in the kitchen make sure that the linens and the chair pads fit in with your scheme as well.
