From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Color or colour (see spelling differences) is the visual perceptual property corresponding in humans to the categories called red, yellow, blue and others. Color derives from the spectrum of light (distribution of light energy versus wavelength) interacting in the eye with the spectral sensitivities of the light receptors. Color categories and physical specifications of color are also associated with objects, materials, light sources, etc., based on their physical properties such as light absorption, reflection, or emission spectra. By defining a color space, colors can be identified numerically; for example, by their unique RGB and HSV values (see List of colors). Typically, only features of the composition of light that are detectable by humans (wavelength spectrum from 380 nm to 740 nm, roughly) are included, thereby objectively relating the psychological phenomenon of color to its physical specification. Because perception of color stems from the varying sensitivity of different types of cone cells in the retina to different parts of the spectrum, colors may be defined and quantified by the degree to which they stimulate these cells. These physical or physiological quantifications of color, however, do not fully explain the psychophysical perception of color appearance. The science of color is sometimes called chromatics. It includes the perception of color by the human eye and brain, the origin of color in materials, color theory in art, and the physics of electromagnetic radiation in the visible range (that is, what we commonly refer to simply as light). Can anyone help me figure out what kinds of blush, eyeshadow, and lipgloss/lipstick (etc.) would look good with my comlplexion? Brands and specific colors would be helpful, too. I have brown eyes. Q. I plan on decorating my apt. soon with dark oak mission furniture, along with accent pieces like lamps, shelves, and picture frames in espresso... but I don't just wanna limit myself to those colors. I'd like to add a little touch of ivory or bone white to my decor but don't know how to work with them. Do these colors go well with dark oak and espresso? And are there any other colors that I should consider using? I'm trying to give my place a warm cozy look, but I need some ideas. Asked by Alex - Tue Nov 6 14:23:24 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A.
