Hair color?
Q. I have naturally very, very light (nearly white) blonde hair. Over the past few years I have experimented with different colors, cuts, etc. I'd like to get back to my natural color, should I bleach my hair or use peroxide? I have short hair, so it doesn't damage nearly as much when I dye it or use color.

A. Get it professionally done...Dont risk damanging your hair. Seek a professional..Peroxide and Bleach are very strong and dangerous chemicals to mess around with...And they never turn out right if you do it yourself..GOOD LUCK!!!

A. Bleach it. NO dye will show on black hair. The only way to change a dark color like black that light, is to pre-lighten it with bleach

Q. I want to color my hair. Now i know it's best to go to a salon, but I want to know if anyone has had sucess with at home hair coloring. I just want to do one color, no highlights or anything, so I think it will look okay. Any advice?

A. Go for it! I've been dying my hair regularly for years without any problems. Be sure to get a good quality dye and follow the directions precisely including the "strand test". There should also be a hotline listed on the box in case you run into any difficulties and need to call an expert. When you color your hair for the first time it's good to have a friend there to help make sure you get all of it covered. Honestly, it's pretty easy as long as you read and follow all directions. Yes, I repeated that on purpose because it is very important. ;-) Another thing to remember, if your hair is exceptionally long like mine it may take more than one box of dye depending on the brand you purchase. If you do have to buy two boxes make sure the Lot… [cont.]

What hair color dye damages your hair the less?
Q. I want to color my hair but i need a hair dye that damages my hair very little or nothing at all cuz my hair tends to fall a lot and for that matter i have some frizzy hairs. My hair is black and thick and i want to color it chocolate brown. Any suggestions on a really good hair dye and where I can get it?
Asked by Jen25 - Mon Mar 12 17:09:05 2007 - - 5 Answers - 5 Comments
A. I assume you don't want to go to a salon...so, any one that does not have ammonia in it and non-permanent will be perfectly good. This is offered by many makers - Loreal , Clairol...to name a few. You just put it on..wait about 25 minutes...wash it out and voila...the new you! Have fun but note you will have to redo it about every 6-8 weeks.

How to remove color to get back to natural hair color?
Q. My hair is naturally drab gray. I just started coloring my hair at home over the last 9 months (after having it professionally done for the last 20 years). I want the end result of my hair color to be golden brown. I do not touch up roots in between hair coloring. I do an overall color. Each time I colored my hair, I chose a color that wasn't quite light enough. I'm ready for another coloring. My roots are drab gray, the rest of my hair looks like one solid light brown color. Since I have been using different shades of golden brown each time I color, should I use a hair color remover first to get back to my natural color and then do an overall color of a very light golden brown/blonde? Or just color my hair with the very light golden brown. [cont.]
Asked by denimead - Sat Mar 3 09:51:39 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. yes..If youre going from darker to lighter with about 4 different colors youll definately want to remove the color. They sell a product...its a powder and you mix it with a 20 volume liquid..you can buy the powder and possibly 20 vol at Walmart...The particular powder Im thinking of is called Un-color, but the other brands work just as well...its in a packet usually on the bottom shelf. Be careful using a lot of anything on the hair or it will become "mushy" and break off, especially if heat is applied. Good luck! *I have been a professional hairdresser for 16 years*

What hair color goes best with hazel eyes?
Q. I want a hair color that matches my features. I have hazel eyes (more brown than green), pale skin and dark brown eyebrows. Right now my hair is blonde with some brown in it. What hair color should I have?
Asked by gigi - Mon Jun 21 20:34:50 2010 - - 13 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I would add a few dark blonde highlights, and small amount of light brown highlights and dark brown as well. It is true that your natural hair color will go better with you natural eye color, but if you do want to change your hair color I would suggest highlights.

What hair color would look good with brown eyes?
Q. I have brown eyes- they're pretty boring. They're not extreemely dark, but not light in the least. I want to get my hair dyed. I did a redish color before (Not a natural red, more of a maroon color) and I got a lot of compliments that it looked good, I thought it did. But what other colors would go well with my eye color? I'm willing to try pretty much anything.

HAIR COLOR -How can I get an all over light ashy blond hair color instead of golden.color?
Q. Ive been bleaching and dying my for about 2 years and have tried everything to achieve this color. My natural hair color is a dark auburn color. I have bleached it and then dyed (permanent dye) it ash blonde but the golden color always comes back about a week. The only thing that works but is only temporary is claroil Born BLonde but it washes out in 2 showers. I have bleached my hair as close to white as I can get it to take out as much of the gold color as I can. But It always has that tint of gold on it? Is this a problem related to being a redhead? I've heard its hard to bleach red hair. Any suggestions would be helpful...Has anyone used the bleach that is tinted blue or purple to reduce the reddish color?
Asked by treasuredjems - Wed Aug 22 01:48:15 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Blue based bleaches don't make much of a difference, so what your doing is probably the best you can do. You need to apply your toner (aka ash blonde) maybe once a fortnight, and invest in a good blonde hair shampoo. These are coloured violet or purple, and tone the hair during each wash by depositing pigments to mask the gold. In fact, try a pale violet blonde hair dye/toner instead. as: Violet neutralises Gold Ash neutralises Orange

How can I permanently change my hair color?
Q. Hello. I used to cut my hair really short (buzz it about 1/4 inch) and I recently decided to grow my hair long. However, my hair color is not what it used to be several years ago. A few years ago, my hair color was a dark brown color. Today, my hair is a regular brown color. Is there a way I can permanently change my hair color? For example, if I were to dye my hair to my prefered color, what would keep my hair in that color?

What store bought hair color can I buy to color over my blonde highlights?
Q. My hair is is naturally a light brown with a hint of strawberry blonde. About 3 weeks ago I had blonde highlights put in it and the girl did it to light and too chunky. Now I just want to have one hair color again. Highlights are too high maintenance anyway. So what is the best way to get back to my original color without going to the salon? What's the best brand of haircolor? Will it look weird to put color on top of highlights, even if my roots are growing out already? Help!
Asked by miss tennessee - Fri Oct 26 20:31:39 2007 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You should get the color of your natural hair. Try a semi-permanent color first because a permanent color may come out either too dark on the highlighted parts or the highlighted parts may come out lighter then the rest until it grows out some. The best bet is to go to a hairdresser for color because they know about color and how to best work with processed or lightened hair. Good luck!

How do you lift temporary hair color off your hair?
Q. What's a good (at home) solution to lifting temporary hair color low lights off of hair? My hair is highlighted to a blonde pale golden color. My stylist added low lights that look red to me and have given my hair an overall golden reddish hue that I detest. Please help me get this off of my hair with minimal damage.
Asked by Leah - Fri Nov 14 20:22:55 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Well..it's a temporary color, so your best bet is to wait it out so that you don't damage your hair. Why damage it when the color will come out anyway? Not to mention, red is the fastest fading color in terms of hair dye. Go out and purchase a normalizing or clarifying shampoo..and that color will probably disappear after a couple washes. ...but be careful because that gold that is in your highlights may also fade and they may become dull and slightly blonder..but it shouldn't be too bad.
